SUMMARY:Canadian Obesity Summit 2026
DESCRIPTION:The Canadian Obesity Summit is an in-person event which supports our mission of advancing our understanding of obesity and equitable access to care by reducing weight bias\, fostering evidence-informed practice\, and convening diverse stakeholders in the fields of obesity science. We expect over 700 healthcare professionals and researchers to attend. \nObesity is a complex\, multifactorial chronic disease that continues to pose significant challenges to public health worldwide. Obesity affects millions of children\, adolescents and adults globally. It is associated with numerous comorbidities\, including type 2 diabetes\, cardiovascular disease\, and certain types of cancer. \nThe intricate interplay between environmental\, genetic\, and behavioral factors necessitates a sensitive interdisciplinary approach to obesity management. \nThe Canadian Obesity Summit is more than a scientific meeting — it’s a community. By bringing together researchers\, healthcare providers\, policy makers\, and people living with obesity\, we create a space to share knowledge\, challenge weight bias\, and advance real-world solutions. \nThe theme this year is Obesity Across the Lifespan: Connecting Research to Real-World Care.\n \nOverall congress learning objectives: \nBy the end of this conference\, participants will be able to: \n\nInterpret and apply the latest Canadian Pediatric and Adult Obesity Clinical Practice Guidelines to support evidence-informed assessment and management strategies for pediatric\, adolescent\, and adult populations living with obesity.\nAnalyze and consider interdisciplinary\, patient-centered clinical strategies to support obesity management\, promote health equity\, and reduce weight bias and stigma in diverse settings.\nIntegrate basic science\, clinical\, implementation science\, and population health research to learn about new discoveries that can inform more effective and personalized approaches for management of pediatric\, adolescent\, adult\, and older adult populations living with obesity.\nDemonstrate collaborative and interprofessional approaches to research\, education\, and patient engagement to promote healthy behaviours and equity\, while preventing chronic diseases and improving health outcomes in obesity care.\nAdvance prevention\, health promotion\, and advocacy strategies to reduce weight stigma\, influence policy\, and strengthen systems of care for populations living with obesity across Canada.\n\nTogether\, we’re building a future of greater understanding\, compassion\, and evidence-informed care for all Canadians.
