SUMMARY:Pathways LIVE: Authors in Conversation with Heather Ferguson
DESCRIPTION:Join us for Pathways LIVE: Authors in Conversation\nwith Heather Ferguson\,\nFounder & Executive Director\, Lymphedema Advocacy Group\nMarch 5\, 2026 | 12:00 PM EST | Winter Pathways 2019 | FREE – Registration Required\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout this Discussion: \nIn 2009\, Ms. Ferguson worked with her State Representative to pass the North Carolina Lymphedema Diagnosis and Treatment Act in an unprecedented four months’ time. She then turned her efforts to improving coverage nationwide\, and later that same year secured her Congressman as the sponsor for the first-ever federal Lymphedema Treatment Act. In 2010\, Ms. Ferguson founded the Lymphedema Advocacy Group\, to raise the awareness and support that would be necessary to move a bill through Congress\, and in 2022 the Lymphedema Treatment Act became law. The Lymphedema Advocacy Group continues to work on insurance issues and improving access to care in the United States. In her original article\, Heather offers 10 insights to keep in mind when meeting with policy makers. \nHeather joined us in Niagara Falls at the 12th International Lymphoedema Framework Conference and gave a very inspiring keynote address so don’t miss this opportunity to learn from her and her experience. \n  \nRegister Now: www.tinyURL.com/PL-SIGNUP

SUMMARY:World Lymphedema Day
DESCRIPTION:What to Know\nWorld Lymphedema Day is an annual celebratory event to educate the world about lymphatic diseases. We look forward to you joining advocates from around the world in planning a live or virtual event. Your event can be simple or elaborate. The important thing is you using your voice to express the change you want to see in the world—a world where lymphatic diseases are a global priority. Click here for ideas of how you can get involved. Once you know your planned activity for World Lymphedema Day\, please post it on the map below. The map shows the world how we are all connected in this common goal on March 6\, 2025! \nAbout World Lymphedema Day\nWLD is an annual advocate-driven celebration\, which was established in 2016 by the United States Senate in response to a bill written by the Lymphatic Education & Research Network (LE&RN). The year 2025 marks the 10th year of World Lymphedema Day. Although the day is called World Lymphedema Day\, it’s about educating the world on all lymphatic diseases\, including primary and secondary lymphedema (LE)\, lipedema (LI)\, lymphatic filariasis (LF)\, lymphatic malformations (LM)\, and the full lymphatic continuum (LC) of diseases impacted by the lymphatic system.

SUMMARY:Canadian Obesity Summit 2026
DESCRIPTION:The Canadian Obesity Summit is an in-person event which supports our mission of advancing our understanding of obesity and equitable access to care by reducing weight bias\, fostering evidence-informed practice\, and convening diverse stakeholders in the fields of obesity science. We expect over 700 healthcare professionals and researchers to attend. \nObesity is a complex\, multifactorial chronic disease that continues to pose significant challenges to public health worldwide. Obesity affects millions of children\, adolescents and adults globally. It is associated with numerous comorbidities\, including type 2 diabetes\, cardiovascular disease\, and certain types of cancer. \nThe intricate interplay between environmental\, genetic\, and behavioral factors necessitates a sensitive interdisciplinary approach to obesity management. \nThe Canadian Obesity Summit is more than a scientific meeting — it’s a community. By bringing together researchers\, healthcare providers\, policy makers\, and people living with obesity\, we create a space to share knowledge\, challenge weight bias\, and advance real-world solutions. \nThe theme this year is Obesity Across the Lifespan: Connecting Research to Real-World Care.\n \nOverall congress learning objectives: \nBy the end of this conference\, participants will be able to: \n\nInterpret and apply the latest Canadian Pediatric and Adult Obesity Clinical Practice Guidelines to support evidence-informed assessment and management strategies for pediatric\, adolescent\, and adult populations living with obesity.\nAnalyze and consider interdisciplinary\, patient-centered clinical strategies to support obesity management\, promote health equity\, and reduce weight bias and stigma in diverse settings.\nIntegrate basic science\, clinical\, implementation science\, and population health research to learn about new discoveries that can inform more effective and personalized approaches for management of pediatric\, adolescent\, adult\, and older adult populations living with obesity.\nDemonstrate collaborative and interprofessional approaches to research\, education\, and patient engagement to promote healthy behaviours and equity\, while preventing chronic diseases and improving health outcomes in obesity care.\nAdvance prevention\, health promotion\, and advocacy strategies to reduce weight stigma\, influence policy\, and strengthen systems of care for populations living with obesity across Canada.\n\nTogether\, we’re building a future of greater understanding\, compassion\, and evidence-informed care for all Canadians.
